Violinist born in Belgium who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Liege, graduated in Brussels from the Queen Elisabeth Musical Chapel and took further studies at Indiana University.
She became a member of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1994 and in 2015 also became a director of the Arch Sinfonia..
On 24th April 1988, she and cellist Mark Votapek recorded Johannes Brahms’ “Concerto in A minor for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, Op. 102” and other recordings on which she appears include: Bach to Brubeck, Classikhan, Epiphany, Holst: The Planets, Music of Hope and Symphony No. 1 Inspired by the Lord of the Rings by Johan de Meij with the LSO; Dust Bowl Symphony by Nanci Griffith; Fresh Aire 8 by Mannheim Steamroller; John Adams—A Flowering Tree; l’ull by Feliu Gasull; and, The Music of Juan Orrego-Salas.
In March 2009, the LSO took part in the Great Performers Series at Lincoln Center. Their program was entitled “Russian Dreams: The Music of Sergei Prokofiev” and featured all seven of the master’s symphonies, both of his violin concertos, and his second and fourth concertos for piano and orchestra.
They reprised Prokofiev’s “Violin Concerto No. 2” with Viktoria Mullova at Barbican Hall on 30thSeptember 2010. The concert was rounded out by Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 5” and Richard Wagner’s overture from Tannhauser.
On 15th December 2010, they offered up Max Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1”, with soloist Midori, Gyorgy Ligeti’s “Concert Romanesc” and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.
The Ladies of the London Symphony Chorus and Christian Tetzlaff joined them for a performance that included Claude Debussy’s “Three Nocturnes”, Alexander Scriabin’s “Symphony No. 4” (“The Poem of Ecstasy”) and Karol Szymanowski’s “Violin Concerto No. 1” on 29th April 2012.
On 27th May 2012, they interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Piano Concerto No. 3”, with Yefim Bronfman at the keys, and Gustav Mahler’s “Symphony No. 4”.
They opened with Alban Berg’s “Chamber Concerto” and followed it up with Mahler’s “Symphony No. 1” (“Titan”) on 31st May 2012.
On 3rd June 2012, a fives were wild as they paired Mahler’s “Symphony No. 5” with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Violin Concerto No. 5” (“Turkish”) with soloist Gil Shaham.
In the field of musical education she has been a coach at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence for the Mediteraanean Youth Festival and is a regular coach for youth orchestras at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
