She is a violinist raised in Detroit who started learning the violin at school when she was 9 years old. She then studied with Emily Austin from the Detroit Symphony and went on to attend Indiana University. She graduated in 1978 with her Bachelor of Music degree with Distinction and a Performer’s Certificate.
The same year of her graduation she became a member of the Minnesota Orchestra where she holds the position of Second Violin. She has been involved in many of the orchestra’s activities that include the Kinder Konzert Series, with a string quartet as part of the Common Chords residency in Bemidji in 2014 and in 2018 with a string quintet as part of the Common Chords residency in Mankato. In 2016 she was a member of a string quartet in the Minnesota state tour featuring the opera Test Pilot by Jocelyn Hagen.
She has won the American Federation of Musicians Congress of Strings twice and has participated in music festivals that include Blossom Festival, Music Academy of the West, Spoleto Festival and Yale Summer School Music Academy.
In the field of musical education she has been a faculty member at Mount Calvary Academy of Music and a private teacher at the MacPhail Center for Music. She has also served on the faculty f the Eastern Music Festival and been a coach for the Minnesota Youth Orchestra. In 2016 she was a member of a string quartet in the Minnesota state tour featuring the opera Test Pilot by Jocelyn Hagen.
