He is a bass singer, composer, arranger, choral and artistic director and teacher who earned his Bachelor of Music degree in music education at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and his Master of Music degree in choral conducting and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting at the University of Minnesota.
As a singer he has performed with the Mirandola Ensemble and the Minnesota Beethoven Festival Chorale. He became a member of the Dale Warland Singers in 1999, where he was a bass section leader, an assistant conductor and Dale Warland’s music advisor. He remained with the ensemble until Dale Warland retired it in 2004 and following that he was the founding Artistic Director of The Singers – Minnesota Choral Artists.
His work as a composer has seen him writing commissions for many ensembles that include the Ames Chamber Artists, Chanson, the Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester (MN) which his twin brother leads, The Singers and the Dale Warland Singers.
He has been the leader of over 100 works’s world premiere performances and has also produced several classical recordings.

As a music teacher he was the Director of Choral Activies at Hopkins High School from 2000 to 2006. In 2003 he received the VocalEssence/ACDA of Minnesota Creative Programming Award and in 2004 he was the recipient of the MN ACDA Outstanding Young Choral Conductor of the Year Award.
