Cridlin, Mac (1951-4th September 2018)

Bassist born Maurice Martin Cridlin and nicknamed Mac who was raised in Wheaton, Maryland, who majored in Music Education and played the tuba at the University of Maryland.

He  worked with Stephen Bishop, Patti LaBelle, Glen Campbell, John Lee Hooker, Bill Kirchen, Country Joe McDonald, Sylvester and many others.  Groups with whom he has performed include the Akousti-Kats, Bandhouse, the Durocs, the Gothic South Project, the HooDoo Rhythm Devils, the Mary Shaver Band and The STUPEDS.

On 25th February 2007, he participated in a fundraiser to benefit the health and recovery of Peter Walsh at The Sweetwater in Mill Valley, California.

He and guitarist Bill Kirchen and drummer Jack O’Dell appeared at the Gazebo in Webster Groves, Missouri, on 26th June 2009.  Their set included “Hot Rod Lincoln”, “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” and “The Times They Are A Changing” by Bob Dylan, “Looking At The World Through A Windshield” by Del Reeves and “Too Much Fun”.

On 21st October 2010, Mac and guitarist Dan Hovey and drummer Robbie Magruder performed at JV’s in Falls Church, Virginia.

Bandhouse presented a tribute to Simon & Garfunkel in the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland, on 25th August 2011.  Mac and guitarists Keith Grimes and Esther Haynes were featured on “Punky’s Dilemma” from 1968’s Bookends.

On 15th March 2013, he reunited with Grimes as part of Mary Shaver’s band at O’Donnell’s Seafood Restaurant in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

He died from liver cancer at Westport Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Richmond, Virginia, in 2018 when he was 67 years old.
