He is a fiddler and mandolinist who was a co-founder of the Scottish Celtic rock group The Medium Wave Band in the early 1970s.
With the band he performed on recordings such as the singles “Mellow Yellow” and “Radio” and later after they had changed their name to Avalon he appeared on “The Ballrooms of Romance” and the albums Rocky Roads, Heavy Hearts, Higher Ground and Second Sight.
The group split up in 2002 and Les went on to appear on the 2005 DVD Where Eagles Fly – My Scotland 2 and perform with the Avalon keyboardist John O’ Rourke in the Edinburgh based group Absent Friends.
