Clinton, Gregory “Greg”

He is a cellist born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who studied with Fritz Magg when he attended and graduated from Indiana University’s School of Music.

Back in Milwaukee until the early 1980s he was a soloist with the Skylight Opera Theater and a member of the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra.

In 1983 the music director Thomas Briccetti appointed him to the Omaha Symphony Orchestra where he holds the position of Associate Principal Cellist, having been the Acting Principal Cellist for five seasons.  During his years with the orchestra he has also been the Chair of the Contract Negotiating and Orchestra committees and Assistant Music Librarian.

He has worked in collaboration with artists such as Karrin Allyson and Bobby McFerrin and as a chamber musician as been a member of Heritage String Quartet Omaha, Omaha Symphony’s Fontenelle String Quartet.  He has also performed with the UNO Maverick Quartet, Omaha Chamber Music Society and regularly with Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra since 1990.

In the studio he has performed on recordings that include Christmas, Christmas Celebration and Christmas Winter Wonderland by Mannheim Steamroller, Morning Sun by Milk & Honey and Classical Gas by Mason Williams and Mannheim Steamroller.

In the field of musical education he has his own private studio and has been on the faculties of Dana College, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and most recently University of Nebraska-Omaha.
