Chen Shasha

She is a flute and xun player born in China who concentrates on the various types of Chinese bamboo flute such as the dizi and xiao.  The xun is an ancient Chinese form of an ocarina.  She studied at the Beijing Academy of Music before becoming a member of the Chinese National Orchestra.

Playing as a member of the Chinese National Orchestra she  performed as a soloist and ensemble member on several Chinese pieces of music  in the United States in the “East Meets West” cultural exchange program with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra.

Recordings she has performed on include her featuring on Celestial Music for Qin and Xiao and The Sound of the Soul: Music for Qin and Xiao with Den Hong along with FolkMusic Elite – Guzheng and Flute and Famous Chinese Dizi Collection 2 by the National Traditional Orchestra of China and Dragon Songs by Lang Lang.
