Catchings, John

He is a cellist, also credited as John Ketchings on some recordings, who studied in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1969.

He performed with the Washington DC US Army Band for three years when he was drafted into service after finishing his schooling and then in 1976 accepted the position of Principal Cellist with the Nashville Symphony.

In 1981 he met Michael Card and John Schreiner and started making many recordings of Christian music and released Joy in the Journey.

He has worked as a studio musician and often as a member of a string quartet with David Davidson, Pamela Sixfin and Kirstin Wilkinson.  In the 1990s he founded Chapter & Verse Media Inc.
