She is a bassist and singer born Rosemary Ann Butler in California who started playing bass and guitar in the all-female band Ladybirds while at high school in Fullerton, California. They became popular and after appearing on several television shows in Los Angeles became the opening act for the Rolling Stones in 1964.
After leaving Ladybirds she joined another all-female band called Birtha, recorded two albums with them. After the band members went their own ways in 1975 she started to devote her career to being a backing singer. She carried on with this until the 1980s with her singing on many albums by popular music artists.
In 1983 she released her solo album Rose and after going to Japan she saw success when she contributed songs to the films Dirty Hero and Harmagedon. She went on to co-found The National In Choir based in Los Angeles and was a co-contractor of the choir on Living With War by Neil Young.
30 years after her first solo album she released You Just Watch Me in 2013.
