Buchmann, Eric

He is a violinist who studied at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal and earned his Bachelor and a diploma at the Universite de Montreal.  He took further studies in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California in 2001.

In 2003 he became a member of the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas and in 2006 joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra where he holds the position of Associate Concertmaster.  He became Interim Concertmaster from 2010 to 2013 and led the orchestra at the Spring for Music Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York.

As a soloist he has given performances with the ESO of works that include the premiere of Fantasy on Themes from Swan Lake by David Matthews along with Violin Concerto by Dmitry Kabalevsky, Tzigane by Maurice Ravel and The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

As a chamber musician he is a member of the Alberta Baroque Ensemble.
