Brown, Jennifer

Cellist who was with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra in the 1970s and went on to become a member of the London Symphony Orchestra.

On 10^th August 2007, the LSO gave the U.K. premiere of A Flowering Tree by John Adams in a staged concert performance at Barbican Hall.

They were joined by tenor Roberto Alagna and the London Symphony Chorus on 2^nd May 2008 for an all-Verdi program that featured highlights from Aida, La forza del destino, I lombardi alla prima crociata, Luisa Miller, Macbeth, Nabucco, Otello, Rigoletto, La traviata, and Il trovatore.

On 12^th June 2009, they teamed up with soprano Deborah Voigt for an evening of operatic music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss, and Richard Wagner.

They performed Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto”, with soloist Viktoria Mullova, Felix Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No. 4” (“Italian”) and Carl Maria von Weber’s overture from Der Freischutz on 21^st December 2010.

On 16^th January 2011, Jennifer and violinists Paul Robson and Nick Wright and violist Robert Turner interpreted Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “String Quartet No. 2” at LSO St. Luke’s. Then they turned around and participated in the evening concert that consisted of Vaughan Williams’ “Symphony No. 5”and Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote.

The LSO joined forces with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis for the trumpeter’s “Swing Symphony”, which was preceded by Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Symphonic Dances”, on 25^th and 26^th July 2012.
