Trumpeter from East Moline, Illinois, who started out on the trombone, but gravitated to his instrument of choice when he was twelve years old. He attended Augustana College and the Eastman School of Music, and studied with Ron Price.
In 1980, he became a member of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Other groups with whom he has worked include the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Eastman Brass Quintet, the Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, the Quad City Youth Symphony Orchestra and the University of Minnesota Wind Ensemble.
He was the featured soloist in November 1993 when the SPCO went on a tour of Iowa and performed Georg Frideric Handel’s “Suite in D for Trumpet”. Rounding out the concerts were Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Symphony No. 39 in E flat, K. 543”, Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Chamber Symphony in C minor, Op. 110a” and Igor Stravinsky’s “Concerto in E flat” (“Dumbarton Oaks”).
At the conclusion of the SPCO’s 2004-2005 campaign, he again performed solo duties on Shostakovich’s “Piano Concerto No. 1”, and it was aired by Twin Cities Public Television.
In February 2011, he was a guest soloist of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra for concerts at Adler Theatre in Davenport, Iowa, and Centennial Hall in Rock Island, Illinois. The program comprised J.S. Bach’s Cantata No. 51, Johann Wilhelm Hertel’s “Concerto for Trumpet and Oboe” and Mozart’s Requiem, with the Handel Oratorio Society and Quad City Choral Arts.
Members of the SPCO appeared at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi and Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on 24th and 25th January 2013, respectively, when they offered up The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi.

In the field of music education, he has served on the advisory board on the SPCO Youth Chamber Music Competition, given master classes and private lessons, and taught at the University of Minnesota and University of North Dakota.
