Bergin, Mary

Cellist who has been a member of the Light Brigade and the London Symphony Orchestra.

In 1993, the Light Brigade participated in the Florida International Festival New Horizon Series. They were back in the Sunshine State on 9th August 1995 for a recital at the Rose Cottage Tea Room in Old Sanford.

On 10th August 2007, the LSO and Schola Cantorum de Venezuela gave the U.K. premiere of A Flowering Tree by John Adams with a staged concert performance at Barbican Hall.

They performed the complete score of Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet on 21st and 23rd November 2008.

From 23rd through 30th March 2009, they presented “Russian Dreams: The Music of Sergei Prokofiev”. The eight-day affair included all of the Prokofiev’s symphonies and violin concertos, and his second and fourth piano concertos.

They offered up “a gentle infinity” by Dorothy Ker, “Violin Concerto” by Felix Mendelssohn, with soloist Sarah Chang, and “Symphony No. 2” by Sir Edward Elgar on 5th October 2010.

On 13th March 2011, they performed the world premiere of Vlad Maistrovici’s “Halo”, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Piano Concerto No. 3”, with Jonathan Biss at the keys, and “Symphony No. 7”.

They were joined by mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca on 2nd October 2012 for an evening of operatic highlights by Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod, Camille Saint-Saens and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
