She is a violinist who started learning the violin in Abbotsford, British Columbia and in 1984 completed her ARCT. Around that time she also performed with the Vancouver Youth Orchestra. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Church Music at the Canadian Mennonite Bible College in Winnipeg in 1987 and also in 1987 she married Paul Bergen and relocated to Edmonton where she continued her studies at the University of Alberta and earned her Masters of Music.
She later became a member of the Second Violin Section of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. She has since performed with them in many concerts and shows, including on ESO Outdoors and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the AGA programs.
Other orchestras she has played with include being a member of the Alberta Baroque Ensemble and performing with the Sooke Philharmonic.
