Beal, John

Double bassist who has worked with the Bronx Arts Ensemble, the Eos Ensemble, the Jonathan Klein Jazz Ensemble, the Little Orchestra Society, the New York Pops, and the Orchestra of the 20th Century.

On 27th April 1974, he was in the orchestra at Carnegie Hall in a concert of “Cantique de Racine” by Gabriel Faure, “Concerto for Two Trumpets” by Antonio Vivaldi, Mass in G minor by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and “Psalmkonzert” by Heinz Werner Zimmermann.

He accompanied timpanist Jonathan Haas on “Prelude to End Game” by Philip Glass at the 92nd Street Y on 19th February 1988.

In May 2010, he and Deb Spohnheimer shared double-bass duties in a performance of Leonardo San Juan’s Magnificat at the Church of St. Joseph in Greenwich Village and St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoboken, New Jersey.
