He is a violist who began learning the violin when he was 7 years old, after he had moved to Edmonton. When he was 13 he switched his interests to the viola and performed with the National Youth Orchestra, the Edmonton Youth Orchestra and the All-City Orchestra. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Alberta and his Licentiate in Music at McGill University.
Once he had graduated he performed as a violist with Orchestra London Canada for three seasons and became a casual member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 1988, becoming permanent in 1990. He and has since performed at many concerts and events with the orchestra.
He also performs as a violist in the Clara Dyck Chair with The Alberta Baroque Ensemble.
Recordings he has performed with outside the ESO include Tommy Banks’ Christmas: Instrumental Music for the Holiday Season.
