Arnstein, Pamela

She is a violinist and teacher born in Fargo, North Dakota who studied at the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin as well as taking private lessons in London.

In 1983 she won Friend’s of the Minnesota Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition which was the same year she became a member of the orchestra.  the following year she performed Violin Concerto by Pyotr Tchaikovsky under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner and in 2006 she was the soloist in the premieres of Peace Cranes for Three Solo Violins by Steve Heitzig.

An active chamber musician she played Duo for Violin and Viola by Mozart in 2020 and has been a performer at the Sommerfest concerts and at a Minnesota Orchestra chamber series.

Recordings she has performed on outwith the Minnesota Orchestra include In the Days to Come: Songs of Peace by Marty Haugen, In the Sight of Angels by Michael Joncas and the 1994 cast recording of Hello, Dolly!.

In the field of musical education she was the original co-ordinator in 2013 of he Symphonic Adventures concerts in local high schools and has been a participant in the Minnesta Orchestra’s Adopt-a-School programe.  She is a coach for the Greater Twin Cities and Minnesota Youth Symphonies and has composed and arranged works for students.  She is also a literacy tutor and volunteer string tutor in Plymouth and Minneapolis respectively.
