He was a double bass player born Wayne Alan Anderson in Bloomington, Minnesota who earned his Bachelor of Music Performance degree at Indiana University’s School of Music in 1982.
He played the double bass on a recording by Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller in 1984 and became a member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 1985. He also performed with the Cincinnati Pops during his career. He remained with the CSO for 36 years until his retirement.
Performing in the studio he was a musician on recordings that include Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier Suite/Festival Prelude for Organ & Orchestra/Burleske/Salome’s Dance, Villa-Lobos: Bachianas Brasileiras Nos. 2, 4 & 8 and Philip Glass: Cello Concerto No, 2 “Naqoyqatsi” by Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, The Great Fantasy-Adventure Album, Puttin’ on the Ritz: The Great Hollywood Musicals, The Magical Music of Disney and The Bug Picture by Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops and Christmas by Mannheim Steamroller.
Outside of music he owned Oregonia Eggs and often provided eggs to the members of the CSO.
His son Carl Anderson is also a double bass player who became a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the 2019-20 season.
He died of ALS at home in Oregonia, Ohio in June 2021 when he was 63 years old.
