Aldridge, Rob

He is a double bass player from Edmonton, Alberta who earned a diploma from Grant McEwan, his orchestral training certificate at the University of Ottawa, his Bachelor’s degree at McGill University and his Master’s degree at Yale University.  He also spent summers with the National Youth Orchestra and at venues such as Marrowstone and Banff.

He has performed at many different venues and in  a whole range of musical genres from rock to jazz to chamber to orchestral and everything in between.

In 2008 he became a tenured musician with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a soloist with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, the Enterprise Quartet, big bands and jazz trios and many others.

Outside of his work as a musician he became a licensed realtor in 2013 and has since sold numerous homes.  Alongside this he has managed to continue his work as a bass player and continues to perform with the ESO.

Recordings he has performed on include “Eleven” by hundredmillionthousand. Working on screen he was a musician in the 2012 short film The Man That Got Away.

In the field of musical education he teaches double bass at all levels.

He is married to the teacher and cellist Joanne Yu.
